Executive Team
Tim Cantle-Jones – Managing Director
Tim is a project manager with global experience working on projects including the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa and the 2012 London Olympics. He established Energy Saving Lighting Ltd in 2007 and has excellent connections with UK national and regional government and major street lighting companies including Southern Electric Contracting.
Alan Yazdabadi – Financial Controller/Operations Manager
Alan spent five years with KPMG wherem after qualifying as a chartered accountant, Alan moved to their Corporate Finance Real Estate team which focused on the structuring, financing and procurement of large real estate related projects. Alan has also worked as a corporate finance analyst.
Gavin Barlow – Technical Manager (Lighting)
Gavin has extensive experience in a wide range of Technical Commercial and Operational issues and boasts over 20 years’ experience in the street lighting industry. He has developed and coordinated projects, managing the design and technical functions of street lights for South Tyneside Council and Balfour Beatty.
Technical Team
Michael McNeill – Business and Finance
Michael has spent the last five years as Technical Director for Europe’s leading lighting manufacturing company responsible for product design and development. Michael pioneered the use of Six Sigma processes within the company, and revolutionised several products as a result. He led the development of a range of innovative lighting products including Europe’s first indoor LED luminaire with colour correction technology, and the launch of the worlds most efficient fluorescent luminaire. In 2009, he was part of the team who were awarded for their excellence in R&D by the Cranfield School of Management.
Paul Brown – Creativity and Innovation
Paul worked for Europe’s leading lighting manufacturer for three years helping introduce a modern product development system embracing Design for Six Sigma methodology. Trained in Innovation, and Product Design Paul led the aesthetic design of all the companies products, and was responsible for the mechanical engineering design of a range of lighting products including battens, bulkheads, recessed fluorescent products, and pioneering LED designs.
Jonathan Sommersett – Solutions and Realisation
Jonathan graduated from Durham University with an honours degree in Physics. He joined Europe’s leading lighting company and was trained in the use of advanced optical design predictive techniques by Europe’s best optical design engineers. Jonathan led the UK R&D optical design department, including the development of an advanced one piece louver concept, and a concept in emergency lighting using an advanced LED conversion module.
Christopher Stamp – Concepts and Ideas
Christopher is an award winning Industrial Designer with a passion for aesthetic design and engineering. A product of Northumbria Design School he has worked for companies as varied as Diageo, Intel, and Thorn Lighting. Chris is a talented industrial artist, and is skilled in the use of multiple graphics, CAD, and engineering packages.
Mike Peters – Technology Advisor
Mike has a long career as an innovative entrepreneur in high technology start-ups. His previous experience includes founding software companies in Minnesota, Barcelona and Russia. He spent many years based in Barcelona selling turn-key engineering projects in the Middle East, SE Asia and South America. He was one of the leading sales people for Rank Xerox in the UK. Mike became Director of European Operations for a major US software company, and was responsible for the sale of a Boston-based investment portfolio management system to a major UK software company. He is recognised as the most successful external consultant for the Global Entrepreneurs programme of the UK Trade and Investment Dept.
